I attended the Indigenous Cultural Acumen Training (ICAT), which was a very impactful seminar that helped to deepen my knowledge. This was a very eye-opening session that really helped identify the “why” factor. This was especially seen in the important of the territorial land acknowledgement and the importance of respect. As land acknowledgements are often provided and utilized at UVic, it is equally as important to internalize the deeper meaning of the words you are saying and the impact they have. As curiosity and knowing “why” is very important to me, this seminar wad incredibly eye-opening. This education helped to deepen my values of trust and healthy living, as it has shaped my thinking in a more meaningful manner.
